Hanoverian Baron can make a successful start to 2014 in the Coral Mobile Just Three Clicks To Bet Handicap at Southwell.

Tony Newcombe’s charge returns to the all-weather after enjoying a short break following a turf campaign through the summer.

While the nine-year-old failed to strike gold during the flat season proper, he lined up in some thoroughly competitive heats and was far from disgraced on more than one occasion.

His close-up second to Sir John Hawkwood at York in May was particularly eyecatching, while his third to Lahaag back on the Knavesmire in October also appeared to be pretty decent form.

Hanoverian Baron is returning from well over 100 days off the track here but he has shown in the past that he can run well when fresh, just as he did last year when only narrowly beaten in a similar event at Lingfield on his comeback in January.

The Green Desert gelding has only raced once previously on the Southwell Fibresand so how he will deal with the surface is open to question but having shown an ability to handle a variety of conditions on the turf, it should not present too much of a problem.

Racing off a mark of 88, Hanoverian Baron appears to be back on a highly-winnable mark.

Silly Billy was only narrowly edged out at Southwell last time and compensation awaits in the Ladbrokes Handicap.

He struck gold in claiming company for Brian Ellison at the track in early January and was subsequently acquired by John Balding.

He hit the bar for new connections when beaten a length and a half by Ace Master, staying on well without ever appearing likely to peg back the winner.

The handicapper has left him alone on a mark of 67 for a while now and although that is an overall rise of 21lb from his low point of 46 last summer, Silly Billy is still suitably rated.

Jazri showed a ibt of ability as a juvenile and he can get his three-year-old campaign off to a good start in the TurfTV Handicap at Kempton.

It took Milton Bradley’s runner five attempts to get off the mark but he finally came good in a mile handicap at this venue last August.

The step up to eight furlongs seemed to bring about the necessary improvement so it makes sense for Bradley to try his luck over that trip once again here.

Eco Warrior gave Frankie Dettori a dream return to the saddle last week and while John Hills’ charge will be with the rider’s assistance this time, he still rates a live contender for the Back Of The Net At BetVictor.com Handicap.

That was far from the most competitive maiden event and Dettori was seen to good effect, but Eco Warrior’s determination should be noted while the application of blinkers clearly helped the cause.

The headgear is on once again here and Eco Warrior can step up again to shrug off his penalty.

Bennys Mist can repeat his recent Wincanton success in the Dick Hunt Handicap Chase back at the west country venue.

Venetia Williams’ charge once again showed an aptitude for heavy ground as he sailed home seven lengths clear in a similar race.

He had previously failed to shine in a couple of attempts over the Grand National fences, but back over regulation obstacles, Bennys Mist galloped his rivals into submission.

The handicapper took a dim view of that success and duly raised his mark by 6lb but Bennys Mist is proven when the mud is flying and that could prove key here.

Keshi Pearl found the switch up to Listed company a tough ask before Christmas but the Carling EBF Mares’ “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle should be much more to her liking.

Winner of one of her three bumper starts, Keshi Pearl made a victorious debut over hurdles at Warwick in November and trainer Henry Daly thought it was worth a crack at a higher level next time out.

While far from disgraced in third behind a subsequent Grade Two-placed runner, Keshi Pearl was found wanting when the pace upped a notch and kept on for minor honours.

This race presents a easier task and while she has to give weight to the majority of her rivals, Keshi Pearl looks more than capable of claiming top honours.

Silsol will appreciate testing ground in the New Racing UK Anywhere Available Now Handicap Hurdle.

A Flat winner on heavy ground in France, he has not been disgraced in three starts for Paul Nicholls this term.

Fourth on his British bow at Aintree, Silsol had to settle for second at Leicester next time after being hampered by a faller before staying on.

Silsol has since acquitted himself well in a Flat outing in an amateur event on the all-weather and rates an interesting contender on his first try in handicap company.

Scotsbrook Legend cantered out a wide-margin winner at Leicester last time and can follow up in the Try gg.com On Your Mobile Handicap Hurdle at Towcester.

Shedding her maiden tag at the 11th attempt, Shaun Lycett’s mare seems to thrive on deep ground and conditions should be suitable at the Northamptonshire track.
