COUNCIL bosses are hoping to ‘eradicate fuel poverty’ by helping more people to switch energy providers.

Cllr Mohammed Khan, Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council is encouraging residents to consider switching to the Fairerpower Scheme.

The Fairerpower scheme is a partnership between Cheshire East Council’s Skills and Growth Company and Ovo energy.

The energy offering has been extended to Lancashire under the brand name Fairerpower Red Rose and is managed by the Skills and Growth Company in partnership with councils across Lancashire.

The scheme offers potential average savings of over £100 to Blackburn with Darwen residents who sign up to Fairerpower as well as no exit fees.

Cllr Mohammed Khan, Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council, said: “I am really pleased and excited to announce the launch of Fairerpower Red Rose, following the success of the Fairerpower scheme in Cheshire.

“This is available to every household in the borough, and our aim is simple, to eradicate fuel poverty in Blackburn with Darwen by helping more people to switch energy providers and at the same time to offer award-winning customer service so everyone can have the best experience.”
