A REPORT examining the prospects of young people in Hyndburn has been released.

The report, released by the Social Mobility Commission, said young people across Hyndburn have the chance to build a good life for themselves, regardless of their family background,

The report highlighted where in the country young people have the opportunity to build a good life for themselves, regardless of their family background.

The report ranked Hyndburn in the top third, 97th out of all 324 English district authorities, for upward social mobility.

In the report, upward social mobility is ranked using a number of indicators assessing the education, employability and housing prospects of people living in each of the local authorities across England in terms of the life chances of someone born into a disadvantaged background.

Council Leader, Cllr Miles Parkinson said: “This shows that anybody can achieve anything and that Hyndburn is a place where our young people have the opportunity to build a good life for themselves, regardless of their family background.

"We are seeing progress in the area for young people with the improvement in good schools and more disadvantaged young people entering universities.

"The attainment gap between them and their peers narrowing and so more chance of reaching their potential.”
