DETECTIVES are hunting two arsonists who deliberately set fire to a DIY store in what police have described as an 'unprovoked attack'.

Police have released dramatic CCTV footage which shows the two men pouring accelerant on the side of a building before igniting it with matches.

The attack at Burnley Electrical and DIY, Briercliffe Road, Burnley, resulted in an explosion of flames.

Nobody has been arrested in connection with the attack which happened at 3.30am on Saturday.

Officers have released CCTV footage of the incident which shows two men approaching the premises and breaking a window before throwing accelerant and lighting a match.

The fire was contained between the window of the premises and a metal shelving unit inside.

Det Con Rachel Norris said: “This appears to be an unprovoked attack on a popular family business.

“Fortunately the damage was minimal, but it could have been much worse.

“If you heard or saw anything, or know who might be responsible, please come forward immediately.”
