A 32-YEAR-OLD man breached a restraining order by being in the company of his ex-partner.

Blackburn magistrates heard the contact was at her instigation and invitation but the magistrates warned Paul Anthony Grunshaw that he was the one subject to a court order.

Grunshaw, of Taylor Close, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to breach of a restraining order.

He was made subject to community supervision for 12 months and ordered to pay £180 criminal court charge and £60 victim surcharge.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said Grunshaw had been made subject to a restraining order for five years in October after assaulting the same victim, Faye Willoughby.

She contacted police about 10pm on Sunday and said he was at her house uninvited.

“She said he had let himself in and then refused to leave,” said Miss Allan.

Gareth Price, defending, said his client told a different story to Miss Willoughby.

“As he told the police there has been a recent history to the relationship,” said Mr Price. “There has been contact between them and she invited him to her address. He is at a loss to explain why she found it necessary to call the police on Sunday. As far as he was concerned they hadn’t fallen out in any way.”

Mr Price said there were messages on his client’s phone from the number ascribed to Miss Willoughby saying that she loves him and asking him to let her know when he is coming round.

“At one stage she updated her Facebook page to say they were in a relationship,” said Mr Price.
