A KEEN teen videogame player from Rawtenstall reached the top 16 of 250 entrants at a Pokémon gaming tournament in Manchester.
Jacob Mayers, who attends Alder Grange Community, Technology School in Rawtenstall, registered for the competition online – with no guaranteed entry - and then had to compete on a Nintendo 3DS in a knock-out tournament on the Pokemon X and Y game.
Jacob, 14, said: “I have always been interested in video games and have played since I was two.
“I own a N64, PS1, PS2, Xbox360 and more. I really enjoy it but I also enjoy science and IT at school.
“I want to be a games developer in the future.”
