‘SPIDER-MAN’ has been reassuring residents that East Lancashire’s streets are safe from people taking part in the ‘killer clowns’ craze.

Last week the police took to Facebook to deter people from taking part in the American-inspired social media craze.

The man behind the mask, Anthony Lord, 22, is currently studying theatre and performance at UCLan’s Burnley campus.

He said: “It makes me feel really happy to help the children feel they have peace of mind over the clowns.

“It’s great to know they can go about their day now without feeling scared and troubled.”

Andrea Pilling, managing director of Little Party People Entertainment, organised for Mr Lord to carry out the stunts after hearing that children were too scared to leave their houses.

The 32-year-old from Burnley arranged for ‘Spider-Man’ to reassure worried children that they don’t need to worry about clowns.

She said: “I’ve spoken to a lot of mums and there’s been a lot of children that are frightened of what they’ve seen on the television or from what other children have said.

“I thought it would be great for a superhero to reassure them.”
