A Halstead father is calling for something to be done about youngsters taking drugs near his flat.

David Brown, 55, came home last Friday night to his flat in Mill Bridge, when he found three teenagers in the shelter outside the flats, smoking cannabis.

In 2013, Mr Brown, a musician with band Quixote’s Beard, helped save the life of a 16-year-old boy who had taken a drugs overdose.

Despite warning of the dangers of drugs then, Mr Brown said he still sees a lot of it in the town, especially in a seating area near the flats.

“I always keep an eye on the shelter but I’m not an ogre.

“I just came back with my two boys - who are 15 and 12 - in the car and as soon as I got out I could smell it.

“I took my children inside and then went over to the shelter."
