We had heard through friends that the Kidderminster Choral Society were pretty good but we hadn’t ever heard them.
And so it was with some anticipation that my wife and I had front row seats in the Town Hall last Saturday for a performance of Bach’s “St John Passion”.
As regular visitors to Birmingham Symphony Hall with its world class acoustics and much acclaimed resident chorus and orchestra we wondered how they would compare.
I can only say that under the baton of Geoffrey Weaver and with the support of the Elgar Sinfonia it was a spine tingling triumph for the choir, orchestra and soloists.
We left feeling what a privilege it was to have such a high standard of musicianship on our doorsteps.
We will certainly be keeping an eye out for their future events.
