PARIS: A French public prosecutor is to recommend that wartime police
chief Rene Bousquet be tried for sending 13,000 Jews to Nazi death
camps. Bousquet, 83, a retired businessman, could become the first
senior official of the Vichy regime, which collaborated with the Nazis
during the German occupation of 1940-44, to be tried for crimes against
humanity.
