A DUTCH theatre group is set to work with young people for a special one-off project in the Forest of Bowland.
PeerGrouP will be in Newton in Bowland for the scheme called ‘Memories for the Future’, which will culminate in the creation of a time capsule set to be buried at a secret location in the Hodder Valley.
The project has been commissioned by the Forest of Bowland, which is celebrating 50 years since it became an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
Those wanting to take part are invited to Newton Village Hall on Saturday, October 25 at 10.30am to 1pm to find out more about the workshops, which will be taking place throughout the half-term week.
The group is looking to meet young people and gather stories, songs, poems and pictures to be buried in the time capsule with creative activities held all week.
People are invited to get involved as much, or as little, as they like, and are more than welcome to do something at home if they cannot make it to the hall.
The location for the burial of the time capsule will remain secret and will only be revealed to those who sign up to the project.
It will be buried on November 1 to bring to a close the final day of the Forest of Bowland AONB’s celebratory year, marking 50 years since its designation, and ties in with the anniversary gala.
It is the second time that PeerGrouP has worked in the area, having previously visited the Hodder Valley in 2012 to produce ‘From Stephen to Avenham’, in collaboration with Spot On Lancashire, which was commissioned by the Preston Guild.
PeerGrouP’s Marin de Boer said: “This time capsule will be something different to the normal capsule we all know. It’s a collaboration between a lot of young people looking forward in time, finding creative ways to share their ideas and stories. After three years of working together, I’m really looking forward to doing a project that’s enduring like this.”
