AN RSPB investigation into the disappearance of two endangered hen harriers has hit a dead end.
Females Sky and Hope were among nine chicks to fledge from two nests on the United Utilities Bowland Estate in The Forest of Bowland this year.
The birds were reported missing last month after their solar-powered satellite tags stopped transmitting.
The hen harrier has been pushed to the brink of extinction in England as a result of persecution because they prey on red grouse.
A spokesman for the RSPB said: “We have reached a dead end and there does not seem to be enough information for the police to investigate further.
“We do not know what has happened to them but we would never give up hope.
“The £1,000 reward is still out there for anyone who gives us information that leads to conviction.”
