Care home fails four standards

A CARE home has been rapped by a health watchdog for unacceptable standards of hygiene, maintenance and staffing.

Bosses at Rosedale Care Home in Haslingden have pledged to work with the Care Quality Commission to make improvements.

The centre in Manchester Road houses six adults with mental health issues.

On a routine visit in June an inspector found the home failing in four out of six standards.

The report said: “Care plans were sufficiently detailed to make sure people’s care and support was provided according to their wishes and safety. Risk assessments were completed to a good standard.

“People's care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way to protect them from any unlawful discrimination within the home and wider community.

“Systems were in place to make sure the provider and management continually checked the service was safe.

“However we found improvements were required to make sure an acceptable standard of hygiene, and staffing was maintained.

“We also found maintenance of the premises was not satisfactory in providing a safe environment.”

Centre proprietor Mary Healy said: “We’ve discussed the findings in detail with the inspector. We’ve always had very good reports in the past, and this is a good system to make sure we can make any necessary tweaks to provide the best possible service for the people in our care.

“Our carers usually clean during their shifts, but we have now begun advertising for a cleaner to come in to fulfil that role, so are staff aren’t stretched and the care home meets the highest standards of cleanliness.”
