THE Chasa Muslim Welfare Society (UK) has donated £2,000 from its interest fund to Macmillan Cancer Support after having a look at the specialist cancer information pod at the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

The society, which was formed more than 30 years ago to contribute towards the advancement of Islam in the Indian village in Gujarat, wanted to give something back to the community and has made contributions to a number of local charities.

President of the society Alibhai Patel and treasurer Mahomed Jogee said they were really impressed with the work Macmillan did in the local area and particularly with the information pod which helps people from all backgrounds get the support they need when affected by cancer.

Macmillan fundraising manager Seb Farrell said: “Donations like this help to ensure no body faces cancer alone.

“The £2,000 could keep a Macmillan information and support centre stocked with all the information resources it needs to support people affected by cancer for a year.”
