THE Blackburn Beat Festival, which will take place on Saturday, August 23, has announced its headline act.

Double platinum selling group Dodgy is set to play the closing set of the festival.

Dodgy have sold over a million records worldwide, releasing three albums and have appeared at Camp Bestival, V Festival and Jamie Oliver’s Festival.

Blackburn Beat was created by Capital Properties' animation arm, Capital Life, on behalf of Blackburn and Darwen Council and will take place in King William Street.

Coun Jamie Groves, lead member for regeneration, said: “It is great to see such a fantastic line up taking shape as part of Blackburn Beat.

“The live music alongside various other art and craft activities really show Blackburn as a creative, vibrant environment, along with locally produced food on offer at what I am sure will be a really exciting event.”

The festival will have live art demonstrations from local print shop Weave, children’s circus workshops, craft workshops, a variety of hot food vendors including Blackburn Market’s Kitty Honey Jamaican food and the Coffee Cow van from Chorley.

There will be cookery demonstrations throughout the day with Philippa James using local food from Blackburn Market and a craft ale tent which will have flights of ale and ale tastings with beer sourced from the local breweries surrounding Blackburn.
