A DESIGNER from East Lancashire said he was ‘proud and honoured’ to have been involved with Kasabian’s show-stopping performance at Glastonbury.

Aitor Throup was designer and creative director behind the rock band’s show at the world famous festival in Somerset.

The former Gawthorpe High School student has worked with the Leicester-based band since 2011.

He was at Glastonbury last weekend to put the finishing touches to their performance, which saw the stage turned into a giant white box.

Aitor, 34, told his 12,000 Facebook fans: “Finally back from Glasto! Fair to say Kasabian absolutely destroyed it, huge congratulations chaps, it was epic.

“Incredibly proud and honoured to have designed and creatively directed their headline show. A huge thank you to everybody involved, and to the 100,000 plus people who didn’t stop dancing from start to finish.”

Aitor, who grew up in Brierfield and also attended Blackburn College, was also inspiration in designing the pink concept for the band’s new album, 48.13.

Earlier this year he was made creative director of Blur and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn’s first solo album. He has previously designed high street fashion clothes inspired by the ‘football casual’ style he saw on the streets as a youngster.

Aitor lived in Massey Lane, Brierfield, with his mother before moving to Manchester and then London.
