A MAN found dead at high rise flats in Blackburn is believed to have fallen to his death.

Paramedics were called to St Michaels Court to reports a man had fallen from a third floor balcony.

Neighbours had heard maintenance workers at the flats off Whalley Old Road shouting just before the incident at 8.20am yesterday.

Police said they were informed by the ambulance service that a man had died after being found with serious head injuries.

Residents said they had been shocked by the tragic events involving a man thought to be in his 60s.

One neighbour said: “He was very quiet and like everyone around here he kept himself to himself.

“I was very shocked when I heard what had happened.”

Another neighbour said: “I was just walking towards the flats when I heard a commotion. I wasn’t too sure what was happening.

“I heard workmen shouting and I looked up and there was a man on the balcony. When I looked back he was gone.”

A police spokeswoman said: “At around 8.20am we received a report from the ambulance service of a man who had been found with serious head injuries at St Michael’s Court in Blackburn.

“Sadly, the injuries proved fatal. It is believed the man had fallen from a balcony.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and has been passed to the coroner.”
