PIECES of furniture crafted by Burnley students have gone on display to the public.

The work, by students at Burnley College and UCLan Burnley School of Furniture, is being exhibited at Towneley Hall until July 2.

Today, students will attend a private preview event, with the exhibition opened by Master of the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers, Paul von der Heyde, head of construction at the school.

Head of construction, John Shaw, explained why the show was so important to students and the college alike and said: “We’re always very impressed with the level of effort and commitment each student puts in and this year has seen some very professional results in their finished pieces. We’re extremely impressed and proud of them all.”

The display will include pieces from Young Designer of the Year Construction Development Alliance Award winner Martin Clegg. There will also be stunning pieces designed and constructed by talented students.
