YOUNGSTERS showed off their Claret and Blue colours with pride to celebrate Burnley's promotion to the Premier League.

Pupils at Worsthorne Primary School and Barrowford Primary School swapped their uniforms for Burnley kits or club colours during special non-uniform days yesterday.

Rachel Tomlinson, headteacher at Barrowford Primary, said: “About 80 per cent of the children came in Burnley colours, so we had about 300 in Claret and Blue.

“It was quite a sight, although I’m a Blackburn fan so it wasn’t great for me.

“We have a celebration assembly every Friday and I had Bertie Bee’s help in giving out certificates and prizes for the past week this morning.”

Joy Redman, secretary at Worsthorne Primary School, said almost all staff and pupils at the Brownside Road school wore Claret and Blue to mark the occasion.

She said: “We did it not only as a celebration of promotion, but because it’s the 100 year anniversary of the 1914 FA Cup win.

“The kids had a whale of a time. They and the staff had as much Claret and Blue on as possible. We have quite a few young fans and one or two diehards among the staff too.

“Everyone really enjoyed it and we talked about what it meant in our assemblies too
