THE organisers of the inaugural Gisburn Scarecrow Festival are appealing for more volunteers.

The committee has put out an appeal for more scarecrows to be made for the event to be held this summer.

The event is set to be staged in the rural Ribble Valley village on Saturday, June 28, and Sunday, June 29.

Children’s books will be the theme and there will be a prize for the best scarecrow and refreshments will be served in the village hall from 10am to 4pm.

A trail map will be available to guide people around the village on the day.

A spokesman for the organising committee said: “We really need more scarecrows in order to make this a successful event.

“The success of this event involves community participation.”
