AN 18-YEAR-OLD passenger has been killed in a road traffic collision.

Police said the accident happened when a Peugeot car smashed into a bus shelter and a tree in Burnley road between Todmorden and Burnley this morning.

The crash happened around 3.50am and the road was shut to allow for accident investigation.

The 17-year-old driver was taken to Huddersfield Royal Hospital with chest injuries.

He was described as being in a ‘stable’ condition.

Anybody who witnessed the crash or who has information about it should contact Sgt Ady Newman at West Yorkshire Police on 101.

That's unlikely, sadly he died in the accident, the 17 year old driver survived
