RESTORATION work on the exterior of Clitheroe Library is set to finish at the end of the month.
The £100,000 project is being completed by Nelson-based firm Stone Edge and was originally scheduled to finish at the end of March.
Six stonemasons have been working on the project which includes an investigation into cracks appearing in the masonry.
The work also includes refurbishing windows, roof coverings and external decorations.
Karen Dobson, Lancashire County Council library service district manager, said: “We’re now anticipating the work to Clitheroe Library will take until the end of April as the need for further work has been identified during the course of repairs and conservation that has already taken place.
“Most of this extra work is needed on the older Church Street elevation, but there’s also some on the bell tower which means the scaffolding on the York Street side will need to stay in place for the moment. The library is still fully open during the normal hours, and we’re grateful for people’s patience while the work is completed.”
