Future of Blackburn financial services firm unclear

THE future of a Blackburn company was unclear yesterday after it was revealed that administrators may be called in next week.

People 2 People, which owns a number of financial services companies, issued a notice via the High Court, saying the company was, or was ‘likely to become, unable to pay its debts’.

The notice, issued on Monday, said the company intended to appoint an administrator, Andrew David Rosler, of Bolton-based Ideal Corporate Solutions Ltd, if the problems were not resolved.

It followed a meeting of directors last Friday, March 14 where it was resolved that ‘it would be in the best interest of the company and its creditors for the director to file for administration’.

More than 100 employees are believed to work for People 2 People, the parent company of Quickdox, at its Whitebirk call centre.

In an email sent on Thursday and seen by the Lancashire Telegraph, the company said its business had been subject to ‘disruption’.

It said following a gas leak at the head offices on Monday, power to the building was ‘disabled as a safety measure’ and there had been a dispute over the cause.

The email said: “As it stands, we have no guarantees of when it can be resolved and have had no option but to utilise our temporary offices to continue trading for the benefit of our customers and field agents.”

P2P group chief executive Mark Butterwick said that due to the dispute: “We had no alternative but to take the protection of the courts and seek alternative offices.

“Our wonderful staff have worked tirelessly this week not to interrupt our normal business activity.

“We are looking forward to being fully operational in our new offices next week.”
