JAKE Berry, MP for Rossendale, is aiming to raise £500 to help disadvantaged children in the Valley by jumping out of an aeroplane next month.

So far, the Conservative politician’s planned sponsored skydive has raised £80 for Kids in Rossendale.

He said: “I really wanted to get involved as it’s about my community.

“I did a skydive in 2007 for Rossendale Hospice and enjoyed it.

“So it seemed natural to volunteer to do it again. I can’t wait.

“If you are able to, you can sponsor my skydive and donate to this fantastic local cause.”

Kids in Rossendale is run by Paula Riley from Riley’s Butchers in Crawshawbooth and aims to support children aged six and above that are disadvantaged for any reason, be it because of health, disability, financial, or social circumstances.

Mrs Riley said: “Jake is throwing himself out of a plane to raise money for this local cause.

“Please be generous.”

Sam Aston, Coronation Street’s Chesney Brown, is an ambassador to the charity.

Mr Berry will take the leap on Saturday, April 5.
