PLANS to put up four wind turbines in Todmorden have been met with anger.

Kelda Water Services wants to erect the turbines, which will measure between 110m and 125m, on land to the south west of Gorpley Reservoir, in Bacup Road.

But Calderdale Council has received several objections.

Resident Kieron Hardman said, in a note to the council: “I would hope planners consider the devastating effect it will impose on Todmorden.”

Rachel Jackson added: “Gorpley Reservoir, and the surrounding area, is one of outstanding natural beauty, and is also a conservation area.

“These wind turbines will have a dramatic impact on the environment visually, and also affect the wildlife and natural vegetation.

“Disruption to the area during construction will be unimaginable, and the landscape will be permanently ruined.”

Kelda Water Services (KWS) is a water and waste water contract operations company operating throughout the UK.

The company’s application will be considered by planning officers.
