CLITHEROE newsagents have been the target of two attempted burglaries.

Two stores in Whalley Road and Henthorn Road were targeted overnight between February 14 and 15.

During the first incident, in Whalley Road, offenders tried to smash the front door window and a side door before fleeing after being unsuccessful.

They also smashed a side window and forced open a door at the newsagent in Henthorn Road before being spotted and leaving the scene.

Police believe the offences are linked due to the timeframe and were ‘most likely’ were committed by the same people.

Officers are also investigating four break-ins at a caravan park in West Bradford. Three out of the four caravans were broken into overnight between February 12 and 13 on the Three Rivers Caravan Park on Eaves Hall Lane West. The fourth was broken into between February 9 and 14.

PC Sally Biggar said: “Although we do not believe the offences are linked to the newsagent's shops they have happened over a similar time period and so we have increased patrols in both areas.”
