New homes on Barrow garden centre site to be decided

First published in News

PLANS to build 62 homes on the site of a Barrow garden centre will be voted on by Ribble Valley Borough Council next week.

The plans were sent in by proprietor Chris Hanson, of Hanson’s Garden Centre in Whalley Road, in August, two months after a public consultation. Proposals are for 34 three-bedroom houses, 15 with two bedrooms and 13 four-bedroom homes.

The parish council has objected over concerns of additional traffic and insufficient facilities, such as schools.

Five letters of objection have been submitted to the council which include concerns over noise disturbance and loss of businesses and employment.

The proposals will be discussed on Thursday, February 13, from 6.30pm at Ribble Valley Borough Council Chamber in Church Street, Clitheroe.

there's no point in ribble valley puppets having a vote when the puppeteers are in westminster and they take their orders from Brussels...

With nearly 900 planning permissions going through at the moment in Barrow, why not ask the Church of England to build a Cathedral there too. Barrow could then have an entry in the Guinness book of records, as the only rural village to be transformed into a city within three years. On serious note though, from a village that had just over 300 houses in 2010, to then have in excess of 350% growth is criminal. You won't see this kind of growth in the villages where the NIMBY councilors live. I think it is time to disband RV planning dept altogether and save ourselves a fortune. They could retrain and find employment at Blackpool circus, I can just see them now arriving in their car with wonky wheels, wearing their red noses with pride.
