A MAN who sent his estranged partner seven threatening text messages has been given a community order.
Burnley magistrates heard that John Anthony Fletcher, 45, had a record, but that he had not been in trouble since 1996.
The defendant, formerly of St Stephen’s Way, Colne, admitted sending a communication conveying a threatening message to Christine Harrison, at Colne, last October 26.
The hearing was told Fletcher that was currently on benefits but was hoping to soon find work.
Fletcher was given a six-month community order, with supervision.
He was also ordered to take part in the Lancashire Safer Relationships Specified Activity Requirement.
The bench said the activity requirement was to help him to address abusive behaviour and help him deal with anger management.
The defendant must also pay £50 compensation to the victim, a £60 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
