A MAN in his 70s was knocked down as he crossed the road in Clitheroe.

The crash, which involved a silver Toyota Corolla happened near the Clitheroe Health Centre, in Railway View Road, at around 11.40am today.

Paramedics and police were called to the scene and the patient was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

He suffered superficial cuts and bruises and a broken toe.

A spokeswoman for Lancashire Police said: “An elderly man in his 70s had a leg injury and a head injury, although he was conscious and talking.

“He was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.

“It would appear they were relatively minor injuries other than a broken toe.”
