HEALTH chiefs have urged New Year’s Eve revellers to go easy on the alcohol.
Amanda Thornton, clinical director for the adult community network at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Keeping an eye on how much you’re drinking and ensuring you are safe will ensure you see in the New Year with a night to remember for the right reasons.
“Pouring your own drinks at home and drinking wine with a meal can also be misleading and lead to you drinking a lot more than you think.
“When alcohol is flowing inhibitions can be lowered which can result in you acting in a way that you wouldn’t normally or worse still, ending up in dangerous situations.
“It’s advisable to leave your car at home if you’re planning to have a drink as even one drink can push you over the recommended limit.”
