ROSSENDALE Rubicon, a mental health charity based in Stacksteads, is asking for donations of red wool and black buttons after raising £1,795 for the Royal British Legion by selling knitted Remembrance Day poppies.
The team of knitters provided the wool and pins themselves and sold the poppies for £1.
Will Straw, the Labour candidate for Rossendale, said: "It's fantastic news that Rubicon's knitted poppy appeal raised nearly £1,800 for the British Legion “Almost doubling their target of £1,000.
“I'm sure many people will have seen the poppies in the run up to, and on, Remembrance Sunday.
“I hope people will be able to give the supplies they can."
