HOUSEHOLDERS in Ribble Valley are invited to get in the festive spirit by recycling their Christmas cards and wrapping paper.
More than 83 sq km of wrapping paper will be thrown away in the UK over Christmas, but Ribble Valley householders can cut back on their festive waste thanks to the borough council's white sack scheme.
The number of households participating in the scheme, which sees waste paper and cardboard collected fortnightly from the kerbside, has steadily increased since the council took the service in-house in July 2013.
