11:33am Tuesday 24th September 2013 in News
A 52-YEAR-OLD man who self-scanned his grocery shopping put his debit card in the pay machine, but failed to enter a pin number.
Blackburn magistrates heard Paul Lawrence Nuttall, who left with £50 of goods, returned a week later and repeated the performance, this time leaving without paying for £72 of groceries.
Nuttall, 52, of Bolton Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to two charges of theft from Asda. He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months, and was ordered to pay £121 compensation.
Paul Huxley, defending, said his client had suffered a serious stroke several years ago, which had left him with various problems.
