Burnley man critical after suspected assault
A MAN was left critically ill in hospital after being found collapsed in a street in Burnley.
Stuart Mottram, 35, of Green Street, Burnley was found by a resident at the back of Parliament Street and Dall Street in the early hours of Monday.
He was taken by ambulance to Royal Blackburn Hospital where he remained in a critical but stable condition.
Police said he had received multiple injuries but they were unable to establish how the injuries had been sustained.
Det Insp Jim Elston said: “The appeal is for anyone who may have information as Stuart’s movements on Sunday evening until he was taken to hospital on Monday afternoon.
“In particular, anyone that has information that may assist in establishing how he has come to be so seriously injured.
“I am seeking expert opinion as to the likely cause of his injuries and whilst remaining open minded I am investigating the incident on the assumption Stuart has been assaulted by someone.”
Anyone with information should contact Lancashire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
