Final tribute to 'devoted' Ribble Valley mum who drowned on holiday

THE funeral of a ‘devoted and loving’ mother-of-three who drowned while on holiday with her family in Lanzarote is to be held on Thursday.
Nikki Bate, 48, from Clitheroe Road in Barrow, near Whalley, went for a swim off the shore of Famara Beach on August 15, near the resort of Caleta de Famara on the north side of the island, but got into difficulty.
Anthony, who is originally from Nelson, said heand his children India, 14, Nathaniel, 12, and Cameron, 10, will all miss her very much.
Nikki was a housewife who also volunteered for the Home-Start charity, offering friendship and practical help with families with young children in East Lancashire.
A church service will be held at Whalley Parish Church at 12.15pm. Only family flowers will be received. Any donations in Nikki’s memory can be made to Home-Start, Pendle and Ribble Valley or c/o The Alty Funeral Service in Broomfield Place, Blackburn.
