Here’s a photo which many Accringtonians will find fascinating.
Taken in 1961 it shows Union Street in what is now the town centre.
Then it was very much a residential street with terraced properties heading towards the railway viaduct.
These homes would be demolished as the town was redeveloped. On the right you can see the town’s new shopping centre being built.
