Rossendale Police make seven arrests as update given

Of the seven, three were arrested on suspicion of drink driving, three were accused of drug driving and one person has alleged to have committed a theft.

Police say the driver of the blue Audi, below, blew 105 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath, while the driver of the Citroen Picasso, also below, was said to have produced a reading of 107 micrograms, with the legal limit being 35.

Officers also arrested three alleged drug drivers, and the driver of the campervan pictured below also allegedly failed to provide a blood specimen in custody.

Police also confirmed a man has been released under investigation following the theft of a Thwaites dumper truck from a Cadent site in Bacup in March.

The man, from Oldham, was arrested and interviewed following the theft.

As well as the arrests, Rossendale Police dealt with a number of traffic crimes.

They say the white Mercedes Sprinter van, pictured below, was stolen from Cheshire in March and was seized after the driver abandoned the vehicle in Edenfield.

The silver Mercedes-Benz below allegedly failed to stop for officers in Burnley, with the driver eventually found to have no license or insurance.

In addition, a man from Helmshore has been issued with a police caution following an investigation into his dog worrying livestock, and a woman has been dealt with for the same offence via a community resolution after agreeing to pay compensation to the farmer.

And yesterday (May 11), a joint operation with Greater Manchester Police and other agencies saw three fixed penalty notices issued to people using off-road bikes and quad-bikes.

They will be dealt with via community prosecution warnings, along with a man who was found to be organising such off-road activities in and around Rossendale.
