The M65 in Burnley was closed earlier this evening as police dealt with a 'concern for welfare.'
The motorway was closed between J8 (Hapton) and J11 (Burnley) westbound and between J11 and J10 eastbound.
Traffic was diverted via local routes during the closure, though Westway, which leads up to J10 of the motorway, was also closed for a short period.
Police initially did not disclose what the incident was, but have since confirmed to the Lancashire Telegraph it was due to a concern for welfare.
Photos from around the town showed moving traffic on the motorway soon after the initial warning of the closure, suggesting a swift resolution to the incident.
